How to make simple, easy and healthy homemade dishes and meals cooking from scratch.

As early as I can remember, I was in the kitchen with my grandma cooking. She grew up on a ranch near San Angelo, Texas and married my grandpa who was a farmer and pilot. She taught me how to make so many things from scratch, which always tasted better. One of my favorites I still make often and take to friends is homemade chicken and noodles. There’s something special about taking the extra time and effort to make something from scratch. So whether it’s for your family or taking a meal to friends, making things from scratch shows extra love and care.
Cooking from Scratch to Save Money and Health
These days I also do more cooking from scratch out of a health conscious and financial decision. Have you noticed how many unnecessary ingredients to our food? Or how much the price of food or eating out has gone up? It’s mind-blowing and kind of scary. If my family of four picked their own meals at Chick-fil-a without drinks it would $30 and with drinks it would be $40. $30-$40 is a lot of grocery money for our family. I can probably make six or more meals from scratch for that amount of money and you can too.
Most these unnecessary ingredients are in processed foods that are very convenient but maybe not good for us. Recipes and cooking from scratch are going to be mostly healthy (I am a Southern Gal after all) but also kid and budget friendly as much as possible. And there are a few ingredients I don’t make myself, so there are some exceptions. Like once in a while we make pepperoni pizza and I don’t make my own pepperoni. I have a list of pantry and fresh items that I always have on hand to help prepare meals using basic ingredients easy and healthier.
